Two people rescued from floodwater in Pike County

PIKE COUNTY – Indiana Conservation Officers rescued two people yesterday after they attempted to drive through floodwater in Pike County.

At 12:25 p.m., Pike County Dispatch received a call for help from a person advising they were stuck in floodwater and that the water was inside their vehicle and had reached the door handles.

The subjects were wet, but able to move to the top of the truck in the freezing temperatures.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department deployed a drone and located the victims along River Road near Dodge City.

Responding conservation officers reached the vehicle by boat and transported both subjects to safety. They were treated and released at the scene.

Indiana Conservation Officers remind the public to never drive through floodwater and always remember to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Assisting agencies include the Pike County Department, Pike County Emergency Medical Services, and Pike County Emergency Management Agency.
