BEDFORD – A local man is behind bars following a trespassing incident at a Bedford convenience store on Sunday afternoon.
James Brian Banks, 25, was arrested on March 8, 2026, after being spotted on the property of the Circle K located at 1428 16th Street—a location from which he had been previously banned.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Stuart Ratcliff of the Bedford Police Department, the officer was patrolling the area of 16th and O Streets around 4:25 p.m. when he observed Banks leaning against the west wall of the store. Recognizing Banks from previous encounters and suspecting he was under a trespass order, Officer Ratcliff pulled into the parking lot to verify the records.
At approximately 4:28 p.m., while the officer was on-site, Bedford Dispatch received a call from Circle K staff reporting that a man who had been trespassed the previous month was currently behind the building.
Banks reportedly began walking away from the store toward the Rope Optometry parking lot across the street, where Officer Ratcliff made contact and detained him.
A records check confirmed that Banks had been officially trespassed from the Circle K property on February 18, 2026, by a store employee. Following the confirmation, Banks was taken into custody without further incident on a charge of criminal trespass, a Class A misdemeanor.
