OOLITIC A Martinsville man was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail last Thursday night following a high-speed traffic stop that led to multiple Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OWI) charges.

Dalton R. Warweg, 27, was stopped by the Indiana State Police on March 5, 2026, at approximately 9:18 p.m.

Trooper Jesse L. Crane reported observing a blue 2024 Subaru passenger car traveling northbound on State Road 37 from Main Street in Oolitic at a high rate of speed. Using dash-mounted radar, the trooper clocked the vehicle at 81 miles per hour in a posted 55 mph zone.

Before the officer could initiate the stop near Trogdon Lane, he observed the vehicle passing several other motorists on the roadway.

During the initial roadside interaction, Trooper Crane noted that Warweg exhibited several signs of intoxication. Warweg was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.

A preliminary breath test conducted at the scene yielded a result of .189% blood alcohol content (BAC). Warweg subsequently agreed to a certified chemical test and was transported to the Bedford Police Department. The certified breath test, administered at 10:02 p.m., recorded a BAC of .159% — nearly twice the legal limit in Indiana.

After being read his Miranda rights, Warweg reportedly admitted to consuming mixed drinks containing rum prior to driving.

Warweg faces the following preliminary charges in Lawrence Superior Court 2 of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an alcohol level of .15% or more, OWI, and cited for speeding.
