Obituary: Michael Lee Manzenberger

May 30, 1946 – March 6, 2026

Michael Lee Manzenberger, 79, of Springville, died on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the White River Lodge.

Born May 30, 1946, in Bedford, he was the son of William Francis and Attrice Ruth (May) Manzenberger. He married Janet Tippy on August 19, 1966, and she survives.

Michael was a graduate of Indiana University. Michael worked in road construction and as a land surveyor for Sam Oxley Co. After retiring from Sam Oxley, he moved to computer tech at Bloomington Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and had been a temporary worship minister. He loved music, and was an outstanding guitarist. He was the best papaw and was loved by his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Manzenberger; two daughters: Deanna Manzenberger, and Molly Ann (Roger) Stevens; six grandchildren: Shelby Manzenberger, Jeremiah Stevens, Jedidiah Stevens, Josiah Stevens, Trinity Manzenberger, and Jonah Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Carolyn Hoskins-Byrd, Marion Jean Sims, and Phyllis Root.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Run Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
