Hoosier individuals, companies honored for workplace safety, health

INDIANA – Indiana Governor Mike Braun recognized four Hoosier companies and three individuals for exemplary workplace safety practices today during the annual Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards event.

The Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards event was part of the 2026 Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo. The annual event is hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals in partnership with the Indiana Department of Labor’s onsite workplace safety and health consultation division, INSafe.

“It is a joy to be with these companies and individuals to celebrate the ways they have prioritized health and safety at work,” said Governor Mike Braun. “I ran a business for 37 years, so I know the importance of workplace safety, and I applaud today’s award recipients for making it a priority.”

The Everyday Safety Hero Award recognized Hoosiers who championed workplace safety and health excellence in their respective workplaces. Individuals, who may not always be safety and health professionals, were nominated by their peers or organizations. Winners were selected based on a narrative provided by their respective nominators.

The 2026 Everyday Safety Hero Award recipients are:

  • Christhian Padilla, Senior HSE Engineer, Cummins, Inc., Columbus, IN
  • Adam Surface, EH&S Coordinator, Masterspas, Ft. Wayne, IN
  • Kim Duplak, Director of Stadium Operations, Indianapolis Indians, Indianapolis, IN

Indiana companies received Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards in the categories of education and outreach, partnerships, innovations, and rising star. The 2026 Governor’s Workplace Safety Award recipients are:

  • Partnerships: AstraZeneca – Mt. Vernon Supply Site, Mt. Vernon, IN
  • Innovation: Edwards Electrical and Mechanical, Indianapolis, IN
  • Innovation: Kimball International, Jasper, IN
  • Rising Star: Wood-Mizer LLC, Batesville, IN
