Anderson teen arrested at Dugger Cemetery on sexual misconduct charges

DUGGER — A 19-year-old Anderson man is behind bars following a weekend investigation into a suspicious vehicle parked at a Sullivan County cemetery.

Landon Finnerty was taken into custody by the Dugger Police Department on Saturday, Feb. 21, after officers discovered him at the Dugger Cemetery.

The investigation quickly shifted from a welfare check to a criminal inquiry when authorities determined Finnerty had allegedly used social media to meet and engage in a sexual relationship with a minor.

According to the Dugger Police Department, the encounter began when officers approached a suspicious vehicle at the cemetery. During the course of the investigation, police uncovered evidence of the illicit relationship and also located narcotics on the scene.

Finnerty was transported to the Sullivan County Jail and booked without incident on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and possession of marijuana.
