Obituary Douglas Matthew Joray

March 27, 1966 – February 18, 2026

Douglas Matthew Joray, 59, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Franciscan Health in Greenwood, Indiana.

He was born on March 27, 1966, to the late Lawrence and Doloris Brewer Joray. On September 23, 1989, he married Trish Montgomery, and she preceded him in death in 2009.

Doug was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, a graduate of Seymour High School, Class of 1984, and attended Vincennes University. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1252 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #655 in Seymour.

Doug had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that was truly contagious. His farm was his pride and joy, a place where he found peace and happiness and where many special memories were made. He loved gathering around bonfires with family and friends, sharing stories and enjoying life’s simple moments. Doug was a devoted and loving uncle, not only to his nieces and nephews, but to anyone who needed one, and he welcomed his sons’ friends as his own. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel valued, and no one ever remained a stranger for long. Above all, Doug loved his family and Holly deeply, and he was incredibly proud of his son’s service in the United States Navy, a source of great honor in his life.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his companion, Holly Hill; children, Micah Ann (Michael) Ayers, Anna Marie (Christopher) Wolfa, and Boone Matthew Joray; grandchildren, Willard Ayers and Wyatt Wolfa; brothers, Greg (Linda) Joray, Pat (Ellie) Joray, Joseph (Theresa) Joray, Tom Joray, John (Sara) Joray, and Jeff (Debbie VonDielingen) Joray; sisters, Julie Felabom, Janet (Greg) Thatcher, and Joanie (Chris) Montgomery; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trish Joray; parents, Lawrence and Doloris Joray; nephew, Adam Joray; uncle, Mearl Brewer; aunt, Florence Brewer; uncle, Mitch Evanoff; aunt, Mary Evanoff; and brothers-in-law, Matt Montgomery and Jim Felabom.
