FORT WAYNE – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott has promoted Trooper Zachary McKenzie to Trooper Detective. Detective McKenzie’s new responsibilities will include conducting criminal investigations, interviewing victims, witnesses and informants. In addition, he will be managing, investigating and processing crime scenes.

A Michigan native, Trooper Detective McKenzie is a graduate of Dexter High School and then Ferris State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He graduated from the 79th Indiana State Police Recruit School in 2019 and was assigned the Toll Road Post where he worked until 2022. He has most recently served at the Fort Wayne Post patrolling Whitley County. Trooper Detective McKenzie is member of the Indiana State Police Area II Critical Incident Reconstruction Team and the Underwater Search and Rescue Team (SCUBA).
Trooper Detective McKenzie resides in Whitley County with his wife.
