Steve Siscoe, 55, of Bloomington passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his home in Bloomington.
Born on September 23. 1970 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of Dennis and Carolyn Jean (Neff) Carmer. And he was adopted as a young child by Gary Lee Siscoe after Gary and Carolyn were married.
Steve was a 1988 graduate of Monroe Community Christian School. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Marie Siscoe, on December 31, 2005, in Seymour, Indiana. Steve worked his whole life as a carpenter, first for Pritchett Brothers and then Taylor Brothers, both in Bloomington. He was also a self-employed contractor for many years. He was known for his precision, marksmanship, top shelf quality, and attention to detail, detail, detail. He was slow, but the end product quality was well worth the wait, like a showroom finish that could be in a magazine.
Steve was a member of Family Life Church in Bloomington. He loved the Lord and loved working in the church. He would be asked, Where are you going now?” “To do Jesus’ work” he would say. Steve loved his wife, family and watching This Old House. He also enjoyed fishing, bluegrass music, carpentry and vacationing with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, church and community.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jen Siscoe of Bloomington; his father Gary (Mary) Siscoe, of Walnut, MS; birth father, Dennis Carmer of Gulf Shores, AL; his siblings, Brad (Sara) Siscoe of Scottsburg, IN, Jeff (April) Siscoe of Bloomington, IN, Shelley Siscoe of Bloomington, IN, Nikki (Lee) Pierce of Plainfield, IN, Haillah (Andrew) Woodall of Gnaw Bone, IN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Siscoe; grandparents, James Eugene and Freeda May Neff; brother, Luke Cody Siscoe; and nephew, Jimmy Kenneth James.
Funeral services for Steve Siscoe will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Family Life Church, 8449 N. Fox Hollow Rd, Bloomington, Indiana, with Chase Noel Officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to the time of the service on Friday, February 20, 2026, also at the church.
