Marilyn “Arlene” Potts, 84, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Bloomington.
Born January 15, 1942, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Wesley Robert and Lorene Estelle (Hillenberg) Clifton. She married Edward Gerald Potts on June 10, 1961 and he preceded her in death August 27, 2023.
Arlene was a 1960 graduate of Bedford High School. She was a realtor since 1975 and in 2003 started Arlene Potts Real Estate. Arlene was a member of the Bloomington Board of Realtors, the Bedford Board of Realtors, Daughters of the American Revolution, and American Legion Post No. 250 Auxiliary. She loved sports, especially basketball. And butterflies held a special place in her heart. Arlene was a godly woman, and attended Bedford First Assembly of God.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth Potts of Rogers, Arkansas and Kathy Qualkenbush of Orleans; grandchildren, Amber (John) Peterson, Matthew Robbins, Brittnee Robbins, Jade Tuper, Jet Melvin, Richie (Chelsey) Potts, Kailey Morris, Natalie (Greg) Potts, Grant Qualkenbush, and Emily Qualkenbush; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Farrah, Taylor, Brady, Maren, Charles, Jacob, Alexander, and Ella; and sister, Mary Lou (Jerry) Melton of Bedford.
Her parents; husband; children, Liana Robbins and Linda Melvin; and siblings, Robert “Bob” Clifton, John Clifton, Karen Phipps, and infant sister, Judy Ann Clifton, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Clover Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
