
Harold E. “Bud” Kysar, 104, of Seymour, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Autumn Trace Assisted Living. Born March 16, 1921, in Seymour, IN, he was the son of Herbert A. and Sarah Katherine (Stradley) Kysar.
Bud was a 1939 graduate of Shields High School. He was a US Navy Veteran proudly serving during WWII. Bud married the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Lunte, on June 16, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana. They were happily married for seventy-one years.
He worked for Contel Telephone Corporation in Seymour for over 25 years, retiring in 1983. Bud was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #89, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), all in Seymour. He loved and cherished his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing cribbage, refinishing furniture, and helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family, church, and community.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Beth Ann (Allen) Brooks of Floyds Knobs, IN, Jane (Michael) Jones of New Carlisle, OH, three grandchildren, Allison (Sean) Phillips of Chicago, IL, Andrea (Mike) Lokai of Medway, OH, Kristin (Jon) Guidi of Carmel Valley, CA, five great-grandchildren, Joseph Phillips, Thomas Phillips, Giovanna Guidi, Julia Guidi and Maci Lokai. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sister Alpha Tracy, and brother Frank Kysar.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. William Fredstrom, and Vicar Max Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., also at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran School.
