Jan Scott Johnson, 73, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington.
He was born September 21, 1952, in Bedford, IN, to Kenneth W. and Dorothy May Johnson. He married Judy Buie on May 28, 1984, and she survives. Jan was a Bedford High School graduate, class of 1970, and attended Vincennes University. He was a member of the NRA and American Legion Gillen Post #33. Jan was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. He retired after 33 years as a tool room supervisor at Cook Polymer in Bloomington.
Jan was an avid golfer, bird hunter, loved to train German Shorthaired Pointers, and fish. Jan and Judy really enjoyed their friends and neighbors of the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.
Surviving to cherish Jan’s memory is his wife, Judy; one daughter, Brandy Baker; two granddaughters, Destani (Fiancé Michael Flynn) Vincent, and Breanna Norris; two great grandsons, Caylor Scott and Jameson Cosmo; one twin brother, Jay (Suki) Johnson; five nieces; one nephew; and his bird dog, Bell.
Preceding Jan in death were his parents, Kenneth W. and Dorothy Johnson; and one sister, Debbie Floyd.
Funeral Services for Jan will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, at noon, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Jeff Hudelson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the White River Humane Society or maybe buy a friend a beer.
