BEDFORD — Parents and guardians within the North Lawrence Community Schools (NLCS) district are being urged to exercise caution when funding student meal accounts this week.
The district’s Food Service Department issued a notice on February 9, 2026, regarding significant technical difficulties with its online payment platform.
According to Bonnie Sanders, Director of Food Services, the third-party vendor e-Funds for Schools—which manages deposits for the Meal Magic system—is currently experiencing widespread system issues. These glitches are preventing some online deposits from being processed or confirmed correctly.
To prevent families from being overcharged, the district has issued a specific warning regarding failed transactions:
If the Meal Magic system indicates that a deposit could not be confirmed, users should not attempt the transaction a second time.
Attempting to resubmit a payment while the system is struggling may result in a bank account being charged multiple times for a single deposit.
Vendors are currently working on a fix, with hopes that the system will be fully operational by Tuesday, February 10.
The district expressed appreciation for the community’s patience as the outside vendor works to restore service. Families with immediate concerns or questions regarding their student’s meal balance can reach out to the Food Service office directly.
