LAWRENCE CO. – Rick Butterfield is seeking the Lawrence County Commissioner District 1 seat.

I, Rick Butterfield, owner and operator of Butters Incorporated, announce my candidacy for Lawrence County Commissioner, District 1, in the upcoming primary election.
My life revolves around serving the people of Lawrence County. I was born and raised here, and this county is my home. My wife, Elizabeth and I have raised two children, Nick and Katie in this county. My business, of over 30 years, involves helping the people of Lawrence County.
I am proud to be a member of the Bedford FOP Lodge 94, the American Legion, the Bedford Boat Club, the Association of Indiana Counties, and I am an Amateur Radio Operator.
I’m currently serving my second term as president of the council, a County Precinct Committeeman, and the following boards: the salary committee, the abatement committee, the 911 Board, and the Lawrence County Solid Waste Board. My current duties as a Councilman include serving as a liaison for the Public Defender’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office, the Jail, and J.D.A.I. Local Steering Committee, the Circuit Court, and I previously served as a State Delegate as well as a member of the Lawrence County Fair Board.
I have served the People of Lawrence County as your Councilman At Large for the last five years (currently in my sixth year), maintaining that the People of Lawrence County need to be heard, understood, and respected during our discussions. During these past five years, I have enjoyed serving in a two year term of vice-president and a one year term as president holding a nearly perfect record with my attendance, only missing one meeting.
I take my responsibilities of the county to heart and I will continue to work for you.
I truly believe that transparency is vital to whoever is elected. If elected, I will continue to fight and maintain my position on any zoning regulations that would be brought before the commissioners and will continue to emphasize transparency as well as being a voice for the people of Lawrence County.
I would appreciate your vote. Thank you.
