Linton Police Detective pleads guilty to New Year’s Eve OWI charge

GREENE COUNTY — A Linton Police Detective has reached a plea agreement following his arrest for driving while intoxicated in a marked patrol vehicle on New Year’s Eve.

Logan Hobbs, 34, pleaded guilty in Greene Superior Court on Thursday morning, resolving charges stemming from a December 31, 2025, incident that saw him detained at a local fast-food restaurant.

The investigation began around 6:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve when citizens at a Taco Bell drive-thru in Linton reported an impaired driver in a marked Linton Police Department vehicle.

According to court documents, employees noticed Hobbs acting “confused and disoriented.” He reportedly handed over his debit card despite not having ordered food. When Linton Police Chief Paul Clark arrived, he found Hobbs in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still in drive. As Hobbs attempted to exit, the patrol car began to roll forward.

A chemical test later revealed Hobbs had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .375%—nearly five times the legal limit of 0.08%.

Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw emphasized that Hobbs received the “standard offer” for a first-time offender and was given no special treatment due to his position in law enforcement.
