Lela M. Hackney, 85, of Bedford, passed away on February 6, 2026, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. She was born in Williams on June 25, 1940, to Joseph Eggers and Roxie (Tincher) Eggers. Lela married Carson Hackney, Jr., on June 6, 1959, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2024. Lela retired from Visteon in Bedford in 2006. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianna Fisher of Orleans, and Jill Rose and her companion Joe Vaught of Bedford, one son, Jeff (Lisa) Hackney of Paoli, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Nancy Eggers of Bedford, and Josephine Horton of Bedford, and one brother, Bill (Shirley) Eggers of Bedford.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Roxie Eggers; husband, Carson Hackney, Jr.; grandson, Jason Rose; and son-in-law, Gary Fisher.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home, with Pastor David Ferry and Brother Tom Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, and condolences may be made at www.cresthavenfh.com.
