Indiana State Police investigate single-vehicle fatal crash on I-65

TIPPECANOE CO. – On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, just after 3:15 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 65 southbound near the 174 mile marker.

A preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police determined that a 2005 Dodge Ram was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 just north of the 174 mile marker. For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, entered the median, struck a guardrail, and rolled over before coming to rest.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the driver will be released by the Tippecanoe County Coroner after positive identification has been made and proper notification to the next of kin has occurred.

Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office, the Lafayette Fire Department, and Tippecanoe County Emergency Medical Services.
