OOLITIC– The Town of Oolitic Utilities Department has identified a leak in a critical 10-inch main supply line that carries water from Bedford. Local officials are warning residents to prepare for a potential complete shutdown of water services while repairs are underway.
Maintenance crews are scheduled to begin digging and exploration at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21. The extent of the damage is currently unknown; however, the Utilities Department noted that depending on the severity of the break, it may be necessary to shut down all water within the Oolitic town limits.
In anticipation of the scheduled work, the Town of Oolitic has issued several urgent recommendations for residents to follow before the Wednesday morning deadline:
- Store Water: Fill containers with water for drinking, cooking, and essential medical use.
- Hygiene: Complete all showers and personal grooming before 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
- Restrict Usage: Eliminate all laundry and dishwashing activities throughout the day Wednesday until an “all clear” notice is issued.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local town announcements for updates regarding the status of the repair and the duration of any necessary outages.
