David Gregory Hess, 61, of Bedford, Indiana passed away on January 16th.
He was born on July 23rd, 1964, in Tell City, Indiana to Ron and Susan Hess and graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1981. He proudly served in the United States Army.
David drove a semi-truck for many years across nearly 4 million miles, owned a trucking company with employees that he treated like family, and more recently led a powder coating company co-run by his son, Ronnie (David). He married Cheryl Phillips on September 26th, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his two sons, Ronnie (David) and Michael, his sisters Rhonda and Ruthie, his mother Susan, and his grandson, Remington.
He was known for his unparalleled mechanical knowledge, his ability to make a joke out of anything, his love for his family and for racing, and his ability to fix just about anything. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron, in 2025.
David’s family will be holding a celebration of his life at The Moose Lodge #1081 on Sunday, January 25th between 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A meal will be provided for those who would like one, and the bar will be available. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share their memories of a man who was never short on stories or laughter.
