Virginia Marie Kowalski “Ginny”: 75 years old of Fox Lake, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born February 2, 1950, in Toledo, OH, the daughter of the late Ralph and Marion (nee McCance) Quin, living in Waukegan, IL, Bedford, IN, the Lake County, IL area, and Ocala, Fl, before settling in Fox Lake, IL in 2022. Before her retirement in 2017, Ginny was the Senior Office Manager for One Hope United, Waukegan, IL, and later the Operations Manager for her husband’s business, Fox Development Group Ltd. She was the original founder of the 60’s Chicks, an exceptional writer who had an editorial page with the Lerner News Group in the 1980’s, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On July 29, 1989, Ginny married Thomas E. Kowalski in Geneva, IL.
Survivors include: her husband of 36 years, Thomas; five children: Harold B. Maze of Elgin, IL, Thomas M. Kowalski of New Jersey, James P. (Monica) Maze of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Cheryl (Dean) Campbell of Texas, and Kevin (Rachael) Maze of San Jose, CA; 13 grandchildren: Parker, Ella, Madeline, Brianna, Annalyse, Chase, Will, Conner, Aiden, Nathan, Olivia, Finnigan, and Avery; two great-grandchildren: Zoey and Carsen; two siblings: John (Bertha) Quin of Florida, Pat (Dexter) McCormick of Indiana; two sister-in-laws: Ann Quin of Hawaii and Pamela Wilson of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by two brothers: Ralph and Paul Quin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002. Visitation will be held from 12 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday and from 10 am on Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
