Monroe County Perry Township Trustee Vacancy Causus is January 31

MONROE CO. – Monroe County Democratic Party has issued a call to caucus to fill a vacancy in the office of Perry Township Trustee, following the death of Trustee Dan Combs on January 6, 2026. Pursuant to Indiana Code and Indiana Democratic Party rules, the Party chair will provide notice to the Central Committee within 10 days of the vacancy. Written notice has been mailed to eligible Precinct Chairs.

The Vacancy Caucus will be held on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The Caucus will be held in Bloomington City Council Chambers at 401 N. Morton St, Suite 110.

Only elected and appointed Precinct Committee Persons (Precinct Chairs) in Perry Township, who were certified with the Indiana Democratic Party in January 2025, are eligible to vote. Elected Precinct Chairs only may send their Vice Precinct Chair as a proxy. The current Central Committee is locked for this caucus, and no further appointments may be made.

To run for this position, candidates must reside in Perry Township. Candidates must notify Party Secretary Dr. Gloria Howell (secretary@monroedems.org) within 72 hours before the caucus (Wednesday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. ET) and provide a candidate statement.
