BLOOMINGTON — Two drivers are facing criminal charges after Indiana State Police clocked them at speeds exceeding 125 mph during an alleged street race in southern Monroe County on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. on January 12, Trooper Sam Wagner was patrolling northbound on State Road 37 near the Harrodsburg interchange. According to police reports, Wagner observed two vehicles screaming southbound at “extremely high rates of speed” in what appeared to be an active drag race.

Trooper Wagner utilized his radar timing device to confirm the vehicles were traveling at 102 and 104 mph, respectively. As the Trooper turned his patrol vehicle around to pursue the suspects, he observed the drivers continue to accelerate.
Before the traffic stop could be initiated, the vehicles reached estimated speeds of 125 mph while weaving past other southbound motorists.
The high-speed pursuit ended at the Monroe/Lawrence County line, where Trooper Wagner successfully stopped both vehicles. The drivers were identified as 20-year-old Jaden S. Coomer, of Salem, and Koby G. Wener, 27, of Bedford.
Both men were taken into custody without further incident. Their vehicles were impounded and towed from the scene.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
