
MOUNT VERNON – Bedford North Lawrence finished third in both meets during the Mount Vernon Invitational high school swimming meets on Saturday.
In the girls meet, BNL totaled 360 points, with Tell City (371) and Mount Vernon (364) also battling for the top spot. In the boys meet, the Stars scored 250 points. Tell City finished its sweep with 349 points, while Mount Vernon totaled 331.
BNL posted two wins in the girls meet. Ava Lipp touched first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.12, while Emma Heinzman claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.27.
Other top finishers for the Stars included Skylar Neeley (second in the 200 free in 2:25.22, and second in the 500 freestyle in 6:33.37), Lipp in the 200 individual medley (second in 2:36.33), the 200 medley relay (second in 2:07.12) and the 200 free relay (1:55.52).
In the boys meet, BNL’s Franklin Johnson sizzled to a victory in the 50 freestyle in 24.83. The Stars finished second in the 200 free relay (1:43.56).
BNL will host Bloomington South on Tuesday.
