Bedford man sentenced to six years in methamphetamine case

BEDFORD — A Bedford man was sentenced this week to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction after pleading guilty to a methamphetamine-related felony, according to court records.

Damon B. Meek, 33, was sentenced Dec. 22 by Judge Pro-Tem Robert Cline in Lawrence Superior Court I. Meek pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine as a Level 5 felony, along with a habitual offender enhancement, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana.

Under the terms of the agreement, Meek received six years executed in the Department of Corrections and was credited with 221 days already served. The sentence will be served consecutively to a separate case in Martin County.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings credited law enforcement efforts for the outcome of the case.

“This prison sentence is the direct result of the hard work put in by the Indiana State Police and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office,” Cummings said in a statement. “The Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office appreciates the hard work and dedication of the Indiana State Police and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office to hold these individuals accountable.”
