Sandra Kay Hammond, 86, of Bedford, passed away at 9:28 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the IU Health Hospice House.
Born June 26, 1939, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Arthur and Viola Fern (Abel) Anderson. She married Lowell Kent Hammond on March 18, 1956, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2018. She was a homemaker and attended the Free Methodist Church.
Sandra loved going to Gatlinburg and wintering in Florida. She especially loved attending all her grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ activities.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Hammond and wife, Cheryl, Gary Hammond and wife, Susan, all of Bedford; three grandchildren, Evan Hammond and fiancé, Amber, of Gas City, IN, Eric Hammond and wife, Sarah, of Mitchell, Emily Spoonmore and husband, Justin, of Springville; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Anderson, of Bedford; a sister, Nancy Smith and husband, Tim, of Boiling Springs, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Jerry, Carl, and Buck Anderson and a sister, Linda Knight.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Byron Buker officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Pallbearers are: Evan Hammond, Eric Hammond, Justin Spoonmore, Reece Goodgame, Brody Hammond, and Treyton Hammond. Honorary pallbearers are: Maddox Hammond and Titus Voudrie.
