BNL sweeps events while splashing past Salem

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence swept the blue ribbons in all the events while cruising to a 136-13 victory over Salem during girls high school swimming action on Thursday.

The Lions posted an 83-64 victory in the boys meet.

In the girls meet, the Stars had three double winners. Ava Lipp claimed the 200 yard individual medley (2:37.98) and 100 backstroke (1:08.30), Sabrina Lipp touched first in the 50 freestyle (26.90) and 100 free (1:00.51), and Emma Heinzman took the 100 butterfly (1:13.02) and 100 breaststroke (1:24.54).

Mia Manke won the 200 free (2:21.33) and Skylar Neeley won the 500 free (6:46.48).

BNL also swept the relays. Ava Lipp, Heinzman, Neeley and Alaina Fish posted 2:16.17 in the 200 medley. Heinzman, Manke, Fish and Sabrina Lipp combined to take the 200 free (1:53.45). Manke, Jabrie Sullivan, Ava Lipp and Sabrina Lipp won the 400 free (4:23.20).

In the boys meet, BNL won six events. Cameron Irwin was first in the 200 free (2:20.19), Talon Hooten won the 200 individual medley (2:42.99), Jax McIntosh rolled in first in the 500 free (6:35.24), and Franklin Johnson won the 100 breaststroke (1:20.62).

The Stars also won two relays. McIntosh, Johnson, Irwin and Morgan Conover took the 200 medley (2:01.04), while Hooten, Justin Wu, Irwin and McIntosh took the 400 free (4:29.55).

BNL will visit Columbus North on Saturday.
