Driver arrested after being found slumped at the wheel

BEDFORD — A Springville man, Keaden Trueblood, 24, was arrested early Friday morning, December 13, 2025, after a Bedford Police officer found his vehicle stopped past the stop line and found him unresponsive.

Trueblood is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangerment.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Taylor Daugherty of the Bedford Police Department at approximately 3:21 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, near the intersection of State Road 37 and John Williams Boulevard she observed a silver 2008 Chevrolet Equinox stopped past the designated stop line in the southbound left-hand turning lane of State Road 37.

After observing the vehicle had not moved, Officer Daugherty approached. He found the driver, identified as Trueblood, slumped at the wheel. The vehicle was running, in gear, and Trueblood’s foot was on the brake.

Due to Trueblood being unresponsive to several attempts to knock on the window, other responding officers assisted in forcibly lowering the passenger-side window to unlock the door. Officers were then able to place the vehicle in park and turn it off.

Upon making contact, Officer Daugherty noted that Trueblood was very disoriented and his speech was slurred. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from his person and breath. When asked, Trueblood allegedly admitted to having “three or four beers.”

Trueblood was transported to the station where he performed three standardized field sobriety tests that he failed.

A breath test administered at the scene yielded a 0.136, which is significantly above Indiana’s legal limit of 0.08.

Trueblood was read his Miranda Warning and Indiana Implied Consent, to which he submitted for a certified chemical test. He was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital, where a certified blood draw.

Trueblood was subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Jail for housing on charges of OWI and OWI endangerment.
