BNL girls glide to wins over Martinsville and Trinity

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence won 10 events while posting wins over Martinsville and Trinity Lutheran during girls high school swimming action on Tuesday.

The Stars conquered Martinsville by a 135-37 count, and topped Trinity by a 135-14 decision in the double-duel meet. In the boys meets, BNL hammered Trinity 118-5 but suffered a 94-69 loss to the Artesians.

Skylar Neeley and Sabrina Lipp were double winners for the Stars in the girls meet. Neeley claimed the 200 yard freestyle (2:30.19) and 500 free (6:34.12), while Lipp touched first in the 50 free (26.73) and 100 butterfly (1:12.14).

Other individual winners for BNL included Emma Heinzman (2:44.87 in the 200 individual medley), Ava Lipp (1:07.41 in the 100 backstroke) and Emma Conover (1:33.44 in the 100 breaststroke).

The Stars also swept the relays. Ava Lipp, Heinzman, Neeley and Alaina Fish clocked 2:13.53 in the 200 medley relay. Heinzman, Neeley, Fish and Sabrina Lipp posted 1:52.65 in the 200 free, while Mia Manke, Neeley, Ava Lipp and Sabrina Lipp went 4:17.69 in the 400 free.

In the boys meets, Franklin Johnson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.40. The Stars also took the 200 free relay as Jax McIntosh, Cameron Irwin, Johnson and Lincoln Gabhart finished in 1:44.57.

BNL will visit New Albany on Saturday.
