BLOOMINGTON — The Board of Directors of the Indiana Forest Alliance (IFA) announces the hiring of its new Executive Director, Jason Flickner.

Flickner brings a wealth of environmental experience to the role, including two previous stints with IFA— as Conservation Director, from 2015 to 2017, and as Development Director in the early 2000s. He also previously served on the organization’s Board of Directors.
In addition to his work with IFA, Flickner has served as the Director and Waterkeeper of the Lower Ohio River Waterkeeper, Inc., as an Executive Consultant with Eco Advocates Consulting, Inc., and as the Water Resources Program Director for Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Inc. He holds a BA in Public and Environmental Affairs from Indiana University and has completed extensive continuing education in water quality standards, sediment control, permit writing, and ArcGIS mapping. In 2020, the Hoosier Environmental Council named Flickner the Frontline Advocate of the Year.
IFA Board President Elizabeth Mahoney, who headed IFA’s Executive Director Search Committee, said of the new hire, “We are thrilled to welcome Jason Flickner back to IFA as our new Executive Director. Jason’s deep understanding of Indiana’s environmental challenges and his commitment to working across diverse perspectives make him exceptionally well-suited to lead us forward. We look forward to the strong partnerships and positive impact IFA will achieve with Jason at the helm.”
Flickner will lead IFA’s environmental research, program development, public outreach, and legislative affairs efforts.
He stated, “I look forward to building on IFA’s 25+ year foundation and expanding our programs, influence, and notoriety statewide— as the leading voice advocating for Indiana’s public lands.”
