BLOOMINGTON– An Indiana University student is in critical condition following a serious traffic collision with a car on Friday afternoon in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to the crash at 3:47 p.m. on December 5, 2025, near the intersection of North Bottom Road and West Maple Grove Road.
The incident involved a 20-year-old male driving a Honda Accord and a 19-year-old IU student riding a bicycle. The male cyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision and was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Honda Accord remained at the scene of the crash and is reported to be cooperating with investigators.
The MCSO’s Major Crash Investigation Team has responded to the scene and is actively investigating the incident. The Sheriff’s Office stated that updates will be provided as they become available.
