BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence went 0-5 during boys high school wrestling action in the Bloomington South Invitational on Saturday.
The Stars dropped decisions to Pike (74-6), Martinsville (54-12), Bloomington South (76-0), Southridge (66-3) and Center Grove (82-0).
BNL recorded two wins on the mat. Wyatt Philpott pinned Pike’s Mawugnon Guedezounme in 3:41 at 138 pounds, and Philpott defeated Southridge’s Roger Grayson by a 10-5 decision.
“Today was a very tough invitational,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “Everyone wrestled better than the scores show. We continue to show improvement from one match to the next. Everyone wrestled with a lot of grit and determination, and our conditioning looked good, but we are still making some simple mistakes that cost us points and ultimately matches.
”We still have the bulk of the season ahead of us. If the boys keep improving and working like they have been, come sectional time, they will look like a different team than we are seeing at this point. Today helped all of the boys gauge themselves against some of the best and helped them see where they want and need to be.”
The Stars will visit Jennings County on Thursday.
