BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence recorded wins over North Harrison and Corydon during girls high school swimming action on Saturday.
The Stars posted a 121-42 victory over the Cougars and an 85-84 win over the Panthers in the double-dual meet. In boys action, Corydon clipped BNL 80-69.
In the girls meets, Mia Manke won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:19.37, while Emma Heinzman clocked 27.07 to win the 50 free. Heinzman and Manke teamed with Ava Lipp and Sabrina Lipp to claim the 400 free relay in 4:14.90.
“We swam some off events on the girls side in order to get some times from our newer swimmers,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “It was the same for the boys. Amelia Rich did well coming off an injury. She has missed some practice, which hurts in her distance specialties (the 200 and 500).”
In the boys meet, BNL’s Cameron Irwin was a double winner, taking the 200 free (2:18.81) and 500 free (6:20.99).
“We continue to fight illness and other issues, and have yet to have all our personnel compete this season,” Young said. “We have a run of meets from now until the start of Christmas break that should help gel the lineup, heading into our annual holiday showdown with Jasper.”
The Stars will host Martinsville on Tuesday.
