BEDFORD – An Ohio man is facing felony charges in Lawrence County, Indiana, following an investigation by the Lawrence County Police Department into a reported offense against a child. An Affidavit for Probable Cause was filed, requesting a warrant for the arrest of 18-year-old Caleb R. Chapman, of Cincinnati, Ohio, on charges of rape and sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the affidavit filed by Detective Andrea Tedrow, the investigation began on October 28, 2025, after officers responded to a report of an offense against a child at a residence on U.S. Highway 50 East in Bedford.
The alleged victim, identified as a 14-year-old female, reportedly disclosed to a friend that she was raped by a male she knew as “Caleb”. The victim reported that the male came to her room on Monday, October 27, 2025, between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The affidavit states that Chapman came over after seeing a post from the victim on social media about a breakup.
- The victim stated that the male entered the residence through her bedroom window.
- During a subsequent forensic interview, the victim reported telling the male “no” repeatedly and attempted to push him away during the alleged assault.
- The victim’s friend corroborated parts of the encounter, stating she was on a video call when the male arrived and captured screenshots of him climbing through the window and being inside the victim’s bedroom.
The affidavit details that Detective Tedrow obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s mobile records. The investigation focused on an Uber trip associated with the suspect, Caleb Chapman, between October 26 and October 28, 2025.
Records received on November 5, 2025, showed a completed ride to Indiana on October 27, 2025, at approximately 12:55 a.m. Detective Tedrow used GPS coordinates from the drop-off location, placing the destination in the immediate vicinity of the alleged victim’s residence in Lawrence County, Indiana.
The affidavit also includes information regarding the suspect’s history. On November 6, 2025, Detective Tedrow contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio and spoke with an official about Caleb Chapman’s status on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR).
Detective Tedrow requested a warrant for Chapman’s arrest. He was detained on December 3.
