Tire Recall Alert: Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires recalled over registration issue

NATIONWIDE — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a new tire safety recall for certain Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires manufactured by Pt. Multistrada Arah Sarana, TBK (Multistrada). The recall, identified as NHTSA Recall ID Number 25T020, is being issued due to a defect that prevents owners from properly registering the tires.

The issue lies with the Tire Identification Number (TIN), which is too long to be registered by owners. This failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 574, “Tire Identification & Recordkeeping,” means that owners may not receive a recall notice in the event of a future safety issue, prolonging the use of a recalled tire and increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected Tires

The recall impacts the following sizes of Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires:

  • 245/50ZR20
  • 245/45R17
  • 225/55ZR18
  • 295/25ZR21
  • 205/45ZR17

Dealers for Multistrada will inspect the affected tires and, as necessary, provide a refund of the purchase price of the tires, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notifications.

To find out specific information about a tire, enter the tire’s brand name or model in the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool.
