The incident occurred at approximately 5:33 p.m. Indiana State Police Trooper Jesse L. Crane was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Trooper Crane made contact with Zachary Fish, the driver of the involved 2003 silver Honda Accord.

Trooper Crane noted several signs of possible intoxication and impairment in Fish, including slurred speech, red glassy eyes, and poor balance. Trooper Crane also noticed the odor of marijuana emitting from Fish. Fish admitted he had been smoking the drug.

Fish agreed to take the Sotoxa test, which came back positive for cannabis.

Fish refused a chemical test after being read the Indiana OWI Implied Consent Warning.

Due to the refusal, Judge Anah Gouty was contacted. The judge reviewed Trooper Crane’s affidavit and granted a search warrant for a blood draw at 7:24 p.m. at IU Health Bedford Hospital. Those results are pending.

Fish has a prior conviction for OWI from September 19, 2016.

Zachary Fish was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail for incarceration on charges of OWI, driving at speeds greater than reasonable, and OWI with a controlled substance.
