James ‘Jim’ L. Wathen, 70, of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at Regency Health Care & Rehab Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Born January 17, 1955, in Evansville, Indiana, he was the son of John L. Wathen and Betty (Brendel) Wathen.
James graduated from Bedford High School in 1973 and loved fishing and reading. He was retired and previously served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his three sisters, Kathy (Dennis) Foster, Vicki Wathen, Becky (Brian) Murphy; one brother, Mike Wathen; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John L. Wathen and Betty (Brendel) Wathen.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, Indiana, with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens in Bedford, Indiana. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
