Attorney General Rokita’s office returns record $82.5 million in unclaimed property to Hoosiers

INDIANA – Attorney General Todd Rokita announced today that his office has shattered the record for unclaimed property returned to Indiana residents in a single year.

As of this month, the Unclaimed Property Division has returned more than $82.5 million to rightful owners in 2025, surpassing the previous record of $81 million set in 2023.

“Breaking our own record just two years later shows what’s possible when we set our minds on a goal,” Attorney General Rokita said, crediting the achievement to the division’s staff and strong public messaging.

Unclaimed property includes items such as forgotten bank accounts, uncashed wages, refunds, safe-deposit box contents, and overpayments. Director Amy Hendrix noted the team’s hard work in proactively finding owners before they even look.

The office highlighted several significant returns this year, including over $1.7 million to a Hoosier in South Bend and over $1.3 million to an individual in Goshen.

The Attorney General encourages all residents to check for their name, family, or business at IndianaUnclaimed.gov or by texting CLAIM to 46220, noting that nearly a billion dollars is still waiting to be claimed.
