BNL’s Crane, Byers, Kirby and Gilbert named All-HHC

BNL defensive linemen Gibson Crane and Brady Byers were named All-HHC by the league coaches.

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence’s Gibson Crane, Brady Byers, Dayson Kirby and Jaden Gilbert were named to the Hoosier Hills Conference’s First Team by the league coaches.

Crane, a senior defensive lineman, was a force with 11.5 sacks, 31 tackles for loss and 95 total tackles. Byers was the senior bookend on the line with 8 sacks, 27 tackles for loss and 79 total tackles (despite missing the final two games with a hand injury).

Kirby, one of the state leaders in passing yards and touchdowns, ignited BNL’s offense with 3,379 yards (while completing 61 percent of his passes) and 36 touchdowns. Gilbert was his top target with 61 catches for 907 yards, with 6 scores.

BNL defensive backs Luke Morris and Jackson Jones were named Honorable Mention. Jones pocketed 5 interceptions and recorded 70 tackles, while Morris had 71 tackles and six pass breakups in the secondary.

The Stars finished 8-4 overall, including 3-2 in the league. Floyd Central won the conference title with a 5-0 record.

BNL senior quarterback Dayson Kirby was a state leader in passing yards and touchdowns.
