Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline presided over the four-day trial, where a jury found Casey Brown guilty of all charges on Monday, in the death of 21-year-old Kobe Stancombe, attempted murder, and criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon. Brown will be sentenced on December 9 at 9:00 a.m.

difficult and emotional testimony and evidence. We thank them for their dedication and their
hard work. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, Indiana State

successful prosecution, and their hard work is appreciated and was invaluable in this case.

The charges stem from a shooting incident on February 25, 2024, which took place inside a Jeep occupied by Brown, Stancombe, and a third individual, Bradley Harper, in the vicinity of Brown’s Fort Ritner Road residence.
Authorities allege that following the fatal shooting of Stancombe, Brown attempted to shoot Harper, who managed to flee the vehicle. Brown is also charged with holding Harper against his will before allegedly forcing him to flee the scene.
Following the incident, police located the Jeep in Paoli, leading to a pursuit. During the subsequent felony stop at Huck’s gas station on West Main Street in Paoli. Bradley Harper reportedly complied with the officers. However, Casey Brown allegedly refused to surrender, resulting in an hours-long standoff.
Officers deployed pepper balls and gas canisters in an effort to get Brown to comply. The standoff concluded when Brown shot himself. Officers immediately administered life-saving measures, and Brown was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
Brown was released from the hospital on March 8, 2024, and was subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Jail to face his charges.
