Mitchell man sentenced to two years in prison for failure to register as sex offender

BEDFORD – A Mitchell man has been sentenced to two years in the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) after pleading guilty to a Level 6 Felony charge of failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

On November 5, Franklin Banks, 56, received the sentence from Judge Pro-Tem Robert Cline in Lawrence Superior Court I.

The two-year executed sentence in the IDOC was part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. Banks was awarded no credit time as part of the agreement.

Furthermore, this sentence will be served consecutively to a separate case in Martin County.
