LAWRENCE CO. — Thanks to a generous grant from Duke Energy, Lawrence County Emergency Management (LCEM) is distributing free weather radios to residents most in need of reliable storm warnings.

This initiative is designed to ensure that vulnerable individuals can stay informed about potentially hazardous weather conditions.
According to Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer, the demand for the radios has been significant, but some are still available.
Residents are encouraged to contact LCEM as soon as possible to inquire about receiving a free weather radio. You can call 812-277-9680 or visit the office, located at the Lawrence County Highway Department, to pick one up between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Director Luchauer noted that for residents who are homebound and unable to make the trip, arrangements will be made to ensure they receive a weather radio.
