College Goal Sunday offers free FAFSA help across Indiana on November 9th

INDIANA — College-bound students and their families across Indiana can get free, expert help filing for financial aid this weekend during College Goal Sunday.

The event is scheduled between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (local time) on Sunday, November 9, and will be held at 34 sites across the state. Financial aid professionals from various Indiana colleges and universities will be on hand to assist attendees in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA is the most critical application for students seeking financial assistance for college, university, or vocational/technical school. Completing it is required for students to be considered for:

  • Federal and State Grants
  • Many Scholarships
  • Federal Student Loans

The state of Indiana has a priority deadline of April 15th for the FAFSA. Filing by this date is essential to guarantee consideration for state-based aid for those who qualify, including the 21st Century Scholars program.

Students who attend College Goal Sunday and fill out the necessary form will also be eligible to win one of five $1,000 educational prizes.

What to Bring

To ensure a smooth filing process, attendees should bring the following items to the event:

  • FSA ID (Student and Parent/Guardian are encouraged to create one beforehand at studentaid.gov)
  • Social Security number (or Alien Registration Number for non-U.S. citizens)
  • Completed 2023 IRS 1040 Tax Returns and W-2 Forms (and other 2023 income and benefits information)
