Austin man arrested in connection with downtown Seymour burglaries

SEYMOUR An Austin man is facing multiple felony charges after being arrested Friday in connection with a string of burglaries in downtown Seymour.

Jeremy Scott Gibson, 34, was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 2:06 p.m. on Friday. He is being held without bond.

According to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster, city patrol officers and investigators initially responded to a burglary reported in the 200 block of South Chestnut Street. During the investigation, a suspect description was obtained.

Authorities determined that the same suspect had attempted to burglarize a second location in the 200 block of South Chestnut Street and taken items from a third location in the 400 block of West Tipton Street.

As officers followed up on the information, Gibson was located in the 400 block of West Tipton Street and taken into custody. Following an interview with investigators, he was formally arrested on two Level 5 felony burglary charges and two Level 6 felony theft charges.
