BLOOMINGTON — A Nashville man died Saturday morning after his vehicle collided head-on with a truck while he was driving the wrong way on I-69 north of Bloomington.
Indiana State Police (ISP) reported that the fatal crash occurred around 6:00 a.m. when Johnathon Clark, 33, of Nashville, was driving a Jeep southbound in the northbound lanes of I-69.

Clark’s Jeep collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old Solomon Rynard from Bloomington. Rynard is a firefighter with the Speedway Fire Department.

Following the impact, both vehicles came to rest in the median. The Jeep became inverted and caught fire. Clark did not survive the collision.
Rynard was transported to IU Health Bloomington for treatment of serious injuries, according to state police. He was then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. He suffered a compound fracture to his fibula with severe arterial bleeding. According to fellow firefighters, Rynard underwent emergency surgery but still faces a significant risk of losing mobility or even part of his leg.
GoFundMe accounts have been established for Rynard and Clark’s family.
