LAWRENCE CO.— A Bedford man was sentenced to a total of 1,165 days (approximately three years and two months) in the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) after violating probation stemming from a prior felony conviction.
On October 22, Judge Robert Cline of Lawrence Superior Court I sentenced Jeffrey M. Johnson, 37, for his multiple offenses.

Johnson had initially pleaded guilty to burglary, penalized as a Level 5 Felony. His initial sentence included 910 days to the IDOC, with 545 days suspended to supervised probation.
While serving his supervised probation, Johnson committed a new crime and pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a Level 6 Felony. This conviction resulted in an additional 365 days, all executed at the IDOC.
As a result of the new OWI charge and his admission to violating probation, Judge Cline revoked Johnson’s suspended time and ordered him to serve an additional 800 days in the IDOC. This brings his total executed time to 1,165 days.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings commented on the sentencing, stating, “This prison sentence is the direct result of the hard work and dedication put in by the Indiana State Police in keeping intoxicated individuals off the roads.” She added, “Mr. Johnson had multiple chances to get into treatment and did not take the opportunity to do so. It is our hope that upon his eventual return, he can become a productive member of society.”
