Melvin Craig, 95, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Bedford.
Born March 6, 1930, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Van and Eula (Wagner) Craig. He married Nancy S. Branson on September 7, 1957, and she preceded him in death. He served two years in the US Army (1951-1953) before returning to work at GM, where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Melvin was also a member of the First Baptist church in Bedford and a member of the Masonic Lodge, which he joined in November of 1969.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Gillespie and her husband, Dennis, of Bedford, and Kathy Webb, of Bedford; four grandchildren, Jason Webb and wife, Karen, of Bedford, Kayla Webb-Lewis and husband, Tyler, of Bedford, Kevin Gillespie and wife, Brittney, of Allen, TX, Sam Gillespie, of Bedford; eight great-grandchildren, Reed Wayne Thomas Lewis, Evan Tyler Lewis, Kade Isaac Lewis, Rylynn Rose Gillespie, Grady Alice Ray Gillespie, Ash Alexander Gillespie, Reese Nichole Gillespie, Griffin Robert Gillespie; three step great-grandchildren, JT Ernst, and wife, Carrigan, Allie Crulo-Rood, Gracie Crulo-Rood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Loretta Jewell Mosier, and a son-in-law, Tommy Webb.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22 nd, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day and Carter Mortuary with Pastor Lee Brown and Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Members of Gillen Post #33 will accord Military Rites provided by the American Legion. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 21st, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
