BEDFORD — A 25-year-old Indianapolis man, Jordan C. Williams, was arrested early Saturday, October 10, in Lawrence County, after being pulled over for a traffic violation and subsequently failing a sobriety test.

The arrest occurred at approximately 3:35 a.m. EDT, near P and 6th Streets.
The traffic stop was initiated by Trooper Cody R. Brown of the Indiana State Police, who observed Williams, who was driving a white 2012 Dodge Charger, driving left of center.
During the stop, Trooper Brown noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Williams’ breath. Officers also observed a passenger in the vehicle discard a bottle of alcohol into the roadway after the car ran over a curb.
Williams failed field sobriety tests. He admitted to officers that he had consumed alcohol approximately two hours before driving.
A Portable Breath Test administered to Williams returned a result of 0.101 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath. The legal blood alcohol concentration limit in Indiana is 0.08 percent.
Williams was cited for two criminal offenses: operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or above and driving left of center.
He was read Indiana’s Implied Consent law and verbally agreed to take a certified chemical test. Williams was subsequently transported to IU Health Bedford, where two vials of blood were drawn at approximately 4:27 a.m. for further testing. The results of the chemical test are currently pending.
Following the blood draw, Williams was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
A criminal history check performed by law enforcement determined that Williams had a prior conviction for operating while intoxicated within the preceding seven years.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
