KNOX CO. – Four Vincennes residents were arrested early Thursday morning on multiple drug-related felony charges, including Dealing Heroin, following a traffic stop in Vincennes.

The arrests occurred at approximately 12:43 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, when Indiana State Police Trooper Hurley stopped a 2013 Dodge Dart on 15th Street near Main Street for driving down the center of the roadway.
The driver was identified as Mariah D. Lewis, 30, of Vincennes, who was found to have an active arrest warrant for child neglect out of Knox County. The three passengers were identified as Bryce Cummings, 29; Kandace Hawkins, 33; and Sarah Liddle, 26—all also from Vincennes.
Due to “suspicious circumstances,” Trooper Hurley removed all four occupants from the vehicle. A Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy and their K-9 unit arrived to assist. The K-9 alerted to narcotics during a walk-around of the car.
A subsequent search by troopers uncovered a substantial amount of illegal contraband and cash, including:
- Over 20 grams of suspected heroin.
- More than 240 syringes.
- Over 50 glass smoking pipes.
- A small amount of methamphetamine.
- Over $1,200 in U.S. currency.
All four individuals were arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail, where they are currently being held on bond. The arresting officer was Trooper T. Hurley, assisted by Trooper B. Marsee of the Indiana State Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The four subjects—Lewis, Cummings, Hawkins, and Liddle—face the following identical charges:
- Dealing Heroin over 12 grams (Level 2 Felony)
- Possession of a Narcotic (Level 4 Felony)
- Possession of Meth (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)
Authorities noted that the investigation is ongoing.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
