Man pinned under vehicle near Washington; Air Evac called

WASHINGTON – Emergency responders rushed to Old US 50 near Washington on Monday afternoon after a serious accident left a man pinned beneath a vehicle he was reportedly working on.

According to dispatch reports, the incident occurred when a jack apparently slipped, causing the vehicle to fall and trap the victim’s head and torso. Responders arrived on the scene around 2:15 p.m.

Personnel from the Washington Township Fire Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and EMS quickly secured the scene and worked to free the trapped man.

First responders performed CPR on the victim at the site of the accident. Due to the severity of the injuries, an immediate air evacuation was requested. Air Evac 17 transported the patient to a hospital for advanced medical treatment.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident remains under investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the jack slipping.
