The Seymour Police Department initially responded to a call on the west side of the city concerning an argument at a home where a man was reportedly displaying a gun while children were present. While the subsequent investigation determined that no argument had taken place, officers did locate a firearm at the residence.

Police identified the man at the home as Shannon L. Barger, 23. Barger was found to be a convicted felon, having been convicted of felony criminal confinement stemming from an incident in 2020.

Due to his felony conviction, Barger is prohibited from possessing a handgun. He was arrested for the illegal possession of a weapon and transported to the Jackson County Jail.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
